Being a teacher, one of the biggest perks (okay, probably the only perk) is having the summers off! You get to finally sigh a B-I-G sigh of relief after a very long and sometimes very trying year. So, you can imagine my excitement when Andrew approached me with the idea of working for him this summer at Northwestern Mutual. After praying about it, it didn't take long for the entire idea to make complete sense: he gets the help he needs without shelling out the extra $$$, and I'll be doing some work for another rep, meaning I'll be bringing in a little extra cash flow as well. Clearly, I couldn't say no, and really the biggest thing I'll be missing out on is watching Regis and Kelly in the mornings while I drink my coffee. So, I decided to take one for the team and join Andrew at 1 Riverway.
I quickly learned that there is much concern in the office when husbands and wives work together. I had people very kindly offering their advice, tips, counsel; it was slightly funny. I will have to say, that after a week and a half of working with my husband, I love it! It's refreshing to get to spend so much time with him again! When we were in college, we'd spend all day together, and say goodbye at night. I have realized that I have missed those times (and now, I don't have to say goodbye at night). We've been carpooling a lot too because when you live and work in Houston, the HOV lane = sanity. I've missed experiencing every ounce of the day with someone, having inside jokes, and really enriching our friendship.
So to Andrew, thanks for employing me and revealing to me what I have missed so much. I love you!

Another Baby Shower
We gave another baby shower this weekend in Beaumont. This one was for a dear friend of mine, Jennie (Close) Scheldt. It's quite an honor to know someone for so long and then get to be a part of their child's life. Here are some pictures from the day! Also featured is Miss Phoebe Jane Strahan!

happy mother's day
Andrew and I had our first celebration at our house in Katy! We invited our families over for Mother's Day! We weren't sure how many of them would be able to come since we're quite a drive, but we had a great turnout! Everyone was able to be there except for our siblings, Kristin and Todd (you were missed)! We had a wonderful time! It was great to have everyone at our house and see where we live! Not to mention, we were able to use some of our great serving pieces we got as wedding gifts (Andrew's favorite part I'm sure)!
Thanks to everyone who made the drive (and flight) to see us! We truly enjoyed it and we love you!

So long SUV...
Well, tonight, I said goodbye to the best graduation gift ever, my Yukon. I loved that car - even though it's just a worldly possession. Plus, it was a gift from Mom and Dad and I didn't want to give it up. But the gas prices just aren't SUV friendly for commuters, which is what I'll be starting in June when I go to work for Andrew. So we shopped around and got a deal that we would have been silly to pass up. So, so long Yukon. We've been through a lot. Moving, evacuations, foster dogs, new puppies, new jobs, more moving...I hope you end up in a good family, maybe they'll have lots of little kids to jump on your seats.

Phoebe's Easter Bonnet
How cute is our goddaughter Phoebe in her Easter bonnet? She's looking very skeptical here of whatever is going on around her. We weren't there to see her, but we heard she was a hit as always! We love you Phoebe!
