Four Months!

Time is just flying by over here! Bishop turned 4 months old October 4th (yes, that means I am barely getting this update out before he hits 5 months)! We didn't go to the doctor for his checkup until about 4 1/2 months, but at that time he was 15.10 lbs (75%) and 25 inches (50%), so he is climbing those charts! We are loving every minute with him. I'm going to try and be better about updating!

3 months

A week ago, Bishop turned 3 months old! It is crazy to me! He has changed so much! We went to the doctor to get the remainder of our 2 month shots, and he weighed 12 lbs 15 oz! He's developing quite the chub! Most of it is on his thighs, or his "grandpa" belly. We are loving every moment with this little guy! Here are some of the things he's doing lately...
*always kicking his legs and feet
*he loves to reach and grab for things, but he gets frustrated after a while when he can't get them
*sleeping 11-12 hours at night
*not really taking naps for longer than 30 minutes unless he's in his carseat or swing (the doctor said this was a direct result to his reflux)
*smiles and laughs all the time now
*gets very excited about his rice cereal
*pays close attention to Bella and likes to grab her hair
*has no desire to roll over again -- if he's had enough of tummy time, he just lays his head down
*loves to watch TV (he gets that from his daddy)
*he is working hard on his grabbing skills and still has to grab something while he's falling asleep
*can no longer wear 0-3 month clothes -- I also think he has big feet because he seems to quickly fill out the footies in his pajamas
*still loves his pacifier, although he is taking a liking to his fingers

enjoy the pictures below!

p.s.
Dear Bishop,
I am very concerned because you cry when I read to you. Your dad thinks this is funny. I am sorry if you don't like it, but I will continue to read to you. Just grin and bear it.

love,
mommy

pure entertainment

We watch a lot of ESPN at our house. If it were possible for me to pay for basic cable + the sports package, we'd save a lot of money each month. Andrew claims that PTI (Pardon the Interruption) is the #1 show on television, and he DVRs it so he can watch it daily. One of the segments they do is "Five Good Minutes" where they have a guest athlete, coach, etc on for a five minute interview.

Well, here is our own version of "Five Good Minutes" with Phoebe Jane, our precious goddaughter! She is pure joy and entertainment! We cannot get enough of her! There is no doubt her smile and laugh will brighten your day, plus notice how smart she is!

rice, rice, baby

So, along with getting my brother's chin, Bishop also got some of his reflux. It's not near as bad, but he does usually spit up a good portion of each meal. Now, we love Todd, but we would rather Bishop have some of his other qualities.

Our doctor is trying to avoid putting B on meds, so she told us to start giving him a little bit of rice cereal at the end of every feeding. At first, Bishop wasn't too sure about it, but he's come around and now gets very excited when you come at him with the spoon!

Here's a video of his first feeding, and speaking of spoons, the one we are using is very special. It was my grandmother's sterling silver spoon that she was given her first solids with; she also fed each of her three children with it (one being my dad); my brother and I were both fed our first solids with it. So we are continuing the tradition!

Sharing Smiles

This little guy has a way of making your day...

I don't feel like the quality is all that great. I'm still new at this, so if anyone has any tips on what to export the video as, best way to upload it, etc that may help me, leave your thoughts!

Two Months Old

Wow! We cannot believe it's been 2 months already! Time starts going by a lot quicker when you have a baby I think. Bishop is really starting to be a lot of fun! He is really a happy baby, but when he doesn't like something, he lets you know! We've been dealing with some reflux for some time now, went through a growth spurt, and had a case of thrush all in the last few weeks. He is definitely filling out and growing. He was 11 lbs and 22 3/4 inches (both between 10-25 percentile) at our 2 month check-up. He has a small head apparently because 14 3/4 inches is below the 5th percentile. He also started his shots and took them like a champ! We're following a slightly different shot schedule than normal, so he only had to get one "stick" last time.

Here are some things Bishop does these days...

*loves to look at framed pictures on the walls, fans, and lights
*really becoming expressive by cooing and making lots of different faces - including the world's greatest grin
*sleeping through the night since 7 weeks
*getting better and better at tummy time
*rolling over from his tummy to his back
*LOVES to be outside
*enjoys bath time, which we now do without the newborn net in his tub, so his body gets to be totally under the water
